Dr. Ashbrook's research focuses primarily on political and diplomatic history and how identity is politicized in Central, Eastern, and Southeastern Europe in the 19th and 20th centuries. His research focus recently shifted to a political and diplomatic analysis of European Union enlargement into the eastern half of the continent.
